Lithophane Night Light Kit - Vertical
Lithophane Nightlight Kit for CNC Router with Candlestone Material (better than Corian!)
Ready to cut kit includes nightlight (choose vertical or horizontal orientation) and 3 pieces of Candlestone solid surface material. Candlestone looks and cuts very similar to Corian Glacier White but is slightly more opaque which results in more contrast for your lithophanes.
The precut Candlestone panels with this kit are .20 inch thick with a recess that fits securely into the nightlight. With the better contrast of the Candlestone material you can use a smaller model height. We have found with nightlights a .10 - .12 inch model height works well and results in an image that looks clearer, with more details and because of the Candlestone you still have better contrast. You will no longer be saying to stand back to see the image better but rather getting close to check all the detail. An added benefit is a reduction in machine cut time since your total Z movement will be much less.
One of the big problems with nightlights is the bright spot created by the bulb which washes out the image in the center while the edges are left dark. Our nightlight has a shroud which creates a much more uniform lighting. Take a look at the wolf image sample to see an actual nightlight using this kit. There is no adjustment done to this photo and you will see the uniform lighting of the image. The Candelstone panel is a snug fit into the nightlight so it is held in place securely but can be removed if needed.
The plug rotates and the nightlight body also rotates so it works great for any locations including corners. You could even turn it upside down if needed.
Included with this kit is one vertical or horizontal nightlight along with 3 precut Candlestone panels. Panels are 3.5"x4.25".

For someone (like me) who is just starting out on the lithophane adventure, this simple kit is just what you need. You get the nightlight with an incandescent light, a moderately robust plastic frame and a few sheets of Candlestone on which to practice your artistry.
It came well-packed for shipping, and there were no surprises.
And having finished my first couple of lithophanes, the "nightlight" provides good and fairly uniform illumination of the image. Well worth the money.
